  • Allegro Choral Academy (grades 2-9)

    Experience musical excellence in an environment that nurtures creativity, teamwork and the love of singing. Learn the art of reading music, develop your vocals, ear training, musicianship and ensemble skills. Perform for friends and family on the last day of class. Continuous registration (Sept-May) is encouraged, however, students may join mid-year. Vivace (grades 2-3) Explore your voice, develop your ear, building music literacy and prepare yourself for the rigors of successful choral membership. Vivace uses the principles of Orff-Kodaly music education. This non-auditioned choir class is positive, fun and structured. Instructor: April Rios Thursdays EVHS 6:20-7:20pm Prima Voce (grades 4-6) Build upon your musical interests and skills. Basic training and musicianship is combined with a positive and creative environment. Instructor: Kari Douma Thursdays, 6:20-7:45pm EVHS Bel Canto (grades 6-9) Focus on the development of a free and natural vocal production, while honing your musicianship, expressivity and ear training abilities. Basic music theory and sight-reading development are integrated into curriculum. Bel Canto is a treble choir open to students in grades 7-9 and advanced 6th graders. Thursdays, EVHS 6:20-8:00pm

    If your child loves to sing, Da Capo provides an opportunity for them to share their passion for music with others! The District 196 Music Department, in partnership with District 196 Community Education, is excited to offer a musical learning opportunity for your child. Da Capo is a non-auditioned choir that focuses on vocal technique, music reading and artistic expression in a fun and educational setting. A final performance will be held on December 4.     Learn how to read music, TABs (musical notations indicating where to put fingers on guitar), and discover the chords and scales it takes to become a guitar player. Bring your own guitar, music will be provided.
  • Music Electronics and Recording (ages 10+)

    Have you ever wondered how music is mixed in a studio? Quench your curiosity, and learn about the electronics used to record vocals and make CDs. Discover how to use a mixing board, edit and autotune bad notes, and how to use different effects to sweeten sound. Understand studio effects, including looper pedals and synthesizers.     Discover the joy of making Music Together! Sing, laugh, move and learn along with your baby, toddler or preschooler for 45 minutes of pure fun each week in these award-winning classes. We bring families together in a warm, supportive environment with the goal of having everyone feel comfortable singing, dancing and jamming. Because young children learn best from the powerful role models in their lives, our engaging classes show parents and caregivers how to help their children become confident, lifelong music-makers just by having fun making music themselves. Classes are mixed-age so the siblings can be together. Infants under eight months on the first day of the fall session attend free with a paid sibling.     Philharmonic Orchestra (grades 4-7)

    Play fun, challenging and musically diverse pieces. Suited for those with at least one year of string playing experience. Focus on foundational skills and ensemble playing in weekly, fast-paced rehearsals (5:00-5:55 p.m.). Explore a diverse range of music, including classical works, Broadway hits and movie themes. Rotating sectionals from 5:55-6:15 p.m. will help you sharpen your technique and prepare for three quarterly concerts.
  • Symphony Orchestra (grades 8-12)

    Are you eager to expand musical training with your string or band instrument? Play fun, challenging, and musically enriching pieces. Designed for students eager to expand their musical training. Ensemble builds on foundational skills while introducing more advanced repertoire. Weekly, fast-paced rehearsals (5:00-6:00 p.m.) explore a diverse range of music, including classical works, Broadway hits and movie themes. Rotating sectionals from 6:00–6:30 p.m. help you sharpen your technique and prepare for three quarterly concerts.
