Each evening features a skilled presenter with expertise in the topic and time allowed for diverse viewpoints, comments and questions. You are encouraged to read, although not required, the Great Decisions briefing book prior to the meeting, available to check out at the Galaxie Library. Free!     Knowing Your Muslim Neighbor

    Learn about basic beliefs and practices of community members who practice the religion of Islam. You'll also learn about the role of women and family, social justice, Shariah law and other topics. There is ample time for discussion and Q&A. Questions often come up due to the lifestyle of Muslims. There is curiosity, but no platform to ask and learn. This class strives to fill that gap. Class is interactive and there is time for Q/A.
  • What You Always Wanted to Know About Islam

    Gain a better understanding of what Islam teaches and what Muslims practice. Learn basic terminology, demographics and differences between religion and culture. Gain an understanding about the beliefs and practices of Muslims, as well as religious celebrations. Time allowed for questions and answers. Meets criteria for Minnesota teacher licensure renewal in Positive Behavioral Intervention and is approved for two CEUs. Sorry, no discounts apply.

    Women in Islam

    Explore Islamic teachings about the different roles of Muslim women in society, including cultural differences. Learn about common misconceptions regarding Muslim women and gender equity in the spiritual, social, and economic aspect of life. Presentation is concluded with examples of Muslim women and their role in history and today.
