Participants, ages 3 to 5, become comfortable in the water learning basic skills with the comfort of a parent in the water.
Skills (may be performed with flotation):
Enter the water independently Submerge and blow bubbles, 3 times Front float, face in water, 3 sec. Front glide, face in water Back float, ears in water, 3 sec. Back glide, ears in water Roll over:front to back/back to front with lifejacket Paddle stroke on front, face in or out of water, 5 yd. Finning stroke on back, ears in water, 5 yd.
Safety topics: Basic water safety, healthy swimming, safe water entry, helping yourself and others in an emergency, use of lifejackets, safe weather conditions for swimming and waterpark safety.Course format: Classes run 30 minutes with ten parent/child pairs per instructor.Registration tip: This level closely compares with Red Cross Preschool 1. Upon completion of required skills, depending on age, register for Aqua Kids 2 or Beginner 2.
