The 1854 historic Octagon House is showcased each year allowing guests to view an old -fashioned holiday celebration. Meet friendly volunteers or homeowners, enjoy viewing vintage, traditional or modern decor. Dining room tables are set with china, crystal and stunning centerpieces. Bedrooms to bathrooms, each decorated for the holidays and open for you to view. Gain new decorating ideas as you meander from room to room. Enjoy lunch at an 1866 church and select from several soups, add a hot beef sandwich and delicious homemade pie. People rave about the pie! If desired, spend some time shopping at the church boutique. Rather than exchange presents, spend a day with a special person and create lifelong memories. Stores are varied and offer unique yarns. Helpful owners and employees will warmly greet you, assist as needed, highlight new yarns, and offer store specials or refreshments. One store has been established over 40 years, while another has been open less than five years. Two floors of bold and vibrant colors welcome you at one rambling boutique, another is nestled in a downtown business community and still another is in a strip mall. Each has a unique ambiance and a special nitch in the world of yarn. Even if you are not into yarn, this tour offers other options in viewing the towns and businesses. Spend time exploring! Lunch will be on your own in White Bear Lake, offering one-of-a-kind restaurants that feature an array of food. Guides are popular Community Education instructors, Kathy and Cheri.
