Smart Tools for Daily Living

Adults with Disabilities (River Valley Project Explore) / Health and Wellness - Adults With Disabilities -
Project Explore Fall 2026

There are many simple and affordable tools that can help us stay independent, involved, safe, and connected - but many of us don’t know they exist or how to access them. These tools are often called “assistive technology.” They can support things like daily tasks, memory, safety, communication, and so much more, helping us do more for ourselves in an adapted and accessible way, reducing stress for us and our caregivers. In this session, you’ll get an introduction to examples of these tools and learn how they can help in real life. You’ll explore hands-on examples, learn what might be available through your waiver, and hear ideas that could work for your situation. We’ll also walk through how to talk with your case manager about getting these supports included in your plan if they can help you. The session is discussion-based, so bring your questions, challenges, and ideas - we’ll learn from each other and explore solutions together.
