Participants, ages 3 to 5, develop skills and endurance to swim longer distances and begin to learn front crawl and elementary backstroke. Skills: Jump into chest-deep water and return to the edge of the pool Bob underwater, blowing bubbles, 5 times Front float, 5 sec. Front glide, turn and swim back to the wall Back float, 10 sec. Back glide, roll over, turn and swim to the wall Tread water, 10 sec. Paddle stroke on front, 15 yd. Finning stroke on back, 15 yd. Front crawl, 5 yd - rhythmic breathing / continuous kick Elementary backstroke - any kick acceptable Safety topics: Basic water safety, healthy swimming, safe water entry, helping yourself and others in an emergency, use of lifejackets, safe weather conditions for swimming and waterpark safety.Course format: Classes run 30 minutes with four students per instructor.Prerequisite: Students must have completed Aqua Kids 2 or have equivalent skills.Registration tip: This level closely compares with Red Cross Preschool 3. Upon completion of required skills, depending on age, continue to register for Aqua Kids 3 or, based on instructor recommendation register for Beginner 2 or Intermediate 1.
